Adfam's latest forum for practitioners and professionals will look at supporting school aged children affected by parental substance use, examining a practice guide developed by the British Association of Social Workers (BASW)

Adfam is a UK based charity that tackles the negative effects of substance use on families, and organises regular forums to hear from experts across the sector on topics relating to families and substance use. Adfam's online forum events are free to attend and open to anyone with a professional interest in supporting families affected by substance use.
At this event we will be hearing from Hannah Todman, PhD. Hannah's practice-focused presentation will discuss good practice in supporting school-aged children affected by parental substance misuse. It will reference a practice guide co-produced by Hannah for the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) on supporting this group of children.
Hannah is a registered social worker, practice educator and workforce development manager. She is NAAS accredited, with 14 years of frontline practice experience within substance use services. The focus of Hannah’s practice has been supporting children and families affected by a loved one’s substance use. Hannah’s recently completed PhD, undertaken at Manchester Metropolitan University, focused on the experiences of children (aged 7-16) who live with parental substance misuse.
