This report and infographic, published by the Canadian Centre for Substance Use and Addiction, summarises mechanisms through which COVID-19, alcohol and cannabis use may influence one another reciprocally.

COVID-19 may influence alcohol and cannabis use through stress and anxiety, loneliness and boredom, and changes in daily routine. Using alcohol and cannabis may have an impact on the immune system, which may have an impact on people infected with COVID-19. Guidance for reducing these risks is also presented.
