The Opportunity
Turning Point is seeking to appoint a dedicated and passionate Research Fellow who will support senior researchers in the National Addiction and Mental Health Surveillance Unit (NAMHSU), mentor and provide guidance to more junior team members, and drive research relating to public health surveillance and responses to alcohol and drug, mental health and suicide, and violence-related harms.
A significant component of this work relates to the quantitative analysis of surveillance data to meet reporting requirements for various Commonwealth, state, local government, NGO and research bodies. The work also involves some teaching in the Masters of Addictive Behaviours, coordination of existing studies, assisting with grant submissions and publications from the National Ambo Project and National Ambulance Surveillance System.
Integral to this position is the development and maintenance of positive working relationships with internal and external researchers and active collaboration with government and other key stakeholders across health and other sectors.
Ideally, we are seeking an early career researcher with a doctoral qualification in public health, psychology or a closely related health discipline, with relevant work experience.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
