As part of the Alcohol Change UK funded project Supporting solutions for South Asian womenDeveloping models for alcohol use supportwe are recruiting two Research Assistants, to assist with participant recruitment, data collection, analysis, and the dissemination of findings.

This study will focus on the alcohol support needs of South Asian women by asking: What support do South Asian women need for their problematic alcohol use? It aims to explore the lived experiences of alcohol use and help-seeking from the perspectives of South Asian women, understand how non-alcohol-using women from South Asian communities respond to problematic alcohol use, and explore if and how alcohol practitioners offer support to South Asian women.

We are recruiting two Research Assistant roles (one Grade 5 @ 40% FTE, and one Grade 6 @ 45% FTE).

Due to the nature of the topic the Research Assistants must be women who can speak English, with fluency in either Urdu or Punjabi desirable.  

Tasks include:

  • Liaise with partner organisations to recruit research participants.
  • Conduct qualitative interviews either face-to-face or virtually with South Asian women.
  • Co-deliver focus groups with South Asian women.
  • Co-deliver creative workshops with South Asian women.
  • Transcribe interviews and focus-groups. 
  • Contribute to literature reviewing and report writing. 
  • Contribute to the dissemination of outputs.
