The EMCDDA is one of the European Union’s decentralised agencies. Established in 1993 and based in Lisbon, it is the central source of comprehensive information on drugs and drug addiction in Europe. On 2 July 2024, the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) will become the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA).

The position we are recruiting for is currently situated within the Scientific Coordination Unit, and the selected candidate will report to the Scientific Director and work closely with the scientific coordination team. The job holder will be responsible for supporting the Scientific Director in his work aimed at developing cooperation and technical activities with the scientific community and external stakeholders. This includes the preparation of technical and scientific meetings, events and conferences; preparation and implementation of contracts for scientific activities; contributing to the preparation of technical reports and other technical documents aimed at facilitating cooperation between the agency and scientists, researchers and other external stakeholders; and providing support to the various scientific processes that are required for the team to successfully fulfil its responsibilities. The job holder, with the guidance of the Scientific Director and the support of the other team members, will also be responsible for various organisational and technical tasks related to the Lisbon Addictions Conference, including assisting with the development of the scientific programme. The job holder will also contribute to the implementation of the new mandate of EUDA related to research coordination and advice on research gaps and needs.
