GASD and Partners Host 3rd Annual Youth Policy Dialogue on Drug Prevention in Liberia
June 25, 2025, the Global Action for Sustainable Development (GASD), in collaboration with its partners, successfully convened the 3rd Annual Youth Policy Dialogue on Drug Prevention in Liberia, marking the 2025 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This milestone event brought together a diverse cross-section of national stakeholders—including policymakers, public health experts, youth leaders, and civil society actors to elevate the conversation on drug prevention and youth empowerment.
Held under the theme "Empowering Youth, Strengthening Prevention: A United Liberia
Against Drug Abuse" the dialogue emphasized Liberia’s urgent need for coordinated action in addressing substance abuse, particularly among young people. Participants engaged in dynamic discussions to identify shared challenges, generate innovative ideas, and advance youth-centered policy recommendations that will inform national strategies and advocacy efforts.
The event highlighted the dual reality that while young people are especially vulnerable to drug-related harms, they also possess immense potential as agents of change in building a drug-free future. By prioritizing their voices, the dialogue reinforced the importance of inclusive policymaking and community-driven solutions.
GASD extends sincere appreciation to all distinguished guests and panelists, including Attorney Siaffa Bahn Kemokai II, Special Assistant to the Minister of Justice; Breznev Paasewe of Catholic Relief Services (CRS), who delivered the keynote address; Aaron Debah of the Ministry of Health; and Abigail Freeman of the Association for Justice and Human Rights (AJHR), for their invaluable contributions to the day’s success.
