The Strong Families Initiative is a family-based program implemented by Girls Against Drug Liberia in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Republic of Liberia with support from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The program was conducted over a period of three weeks and engaged 15 families, including caregivers and children between the ages of 9–13 years.

The initiative focused on strengthening family relationships by equipping both caregivers and children with practical skills to improve communication, responsibility, discipline, and emotional connection within the home. Through interactive sessions, participants learned about setting healthy household rules, supporting children’s development at home, and building stronger bonds that promote positive behavior and well-being.

The program also emphasized the role of caregivers in guiding children toward responsible decision-making and preventing risky behaviors, while encouraging children to understand their responsibilities and positive roles within their families.
