This studentship, hosted by the Institute of Health & Society at Newcastle University, is open to social science candidates or those with relevant professional qualifications with interests in children and families. The specific research project will be determined by the interests of the successful candidate. In particular, applications will be welcomed that relate to:

  • Parental substance misuse
  • Substance misuse and the family
  • Familial risk factors (including intimate partner abuse, mental health, offending behaviour) and childhood adversity
  • Early help and preventative interventions
  • Looked after children and care leavers
  • Developing and evaluating behaviour change interventions in social care.
