Trauma-informed care — Building safer, more inclusive services through understanding, dialogue and practice

Date: 04 November 2026, 12:00–13:30 Lisbon time (WET) — 13:00–14:30 (CET).

Objectives

The webinar aims to:

  1. Introduce the core principles and concepts of trauma-informed care.
  2. Explore how stigma and trauma can be reduced through shared perspectives and dialogue.
  3. Encourage reflection on how organisations and professionals can embed trauma-informed approaches in their work.

Background: Many people accessing health, social, community, homelessness, addiction, mental health, and support services have experienced trauma. These experiences can shape how individuals engage with services, professionals, institutions, and wider society. Trauma-informed care offers a framework for recognising the widespread impact of trauma and responding in ways that promote safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment, and dignity.

This webinar will introduce the concept of trauma-informed care and explore how it can be applied in practice to improve access to services, reduce stigma, improve collaboration between service providers and service users, and create more compassionate and responsive systems. The session will bring together perspectives from research, dialogue-based approaches, and practical project experience.
