UNPLUGGED - Bringing School-Based Drug Prevention to Jordan

UNPLUGGED is a school-based drug prevention programme for adolescents between 12 and 14 years of ageUNPLUGGED programme.

Sessions focus on developing students' interpersonal skills; with the following objectives:

  • Improving protective factors to counter risky behaviours among students through developing their overall social and life skills.
  • Enhancing students’ knowledge and awareness of the risks of drugs and alcohol usage.
  • Improving students' refusal skills and normative beliefs regarding drugs and alcohol usage.

The Unplugged programme was originally developed by UNODC and follows the International Standards of Drug Prevention. Across Arab countries, 3800 parents have actively participated in Unplugged parenting sessions; 47,896 students have participated in Unplugged sessions; 439 teachers, counsellors and senior staff have received training.
