Virtual seminar: "Alcohol and injury in transit in the Americas"

There is ample evidence that shows that the harmful use of alcohol is associated with deaths and disability caused by injuries in traffic. There is a particular interest in the Region of the Americas on the relationship between transit caused injuries associated with the use of alcohol, since the implementation of policy measures have been slow in countries.

Join Monday, April 9, at 12:00 pm (Washington, DC time) at the seminar virtual "Alcohol and injury in transit" organized by PAHO to examine the links between harmful use of alcohol and the deaths and injuries caused by traffic. He will also talk about how you can speed up the implementation of policies to prevent deaths and injuries in the Region of the Americas.

The panelists will be the regional PAHO in Alcohol and road safety advisers, who will present an overview of the epidemiology of the consumption of alcohol and injuries associated with it in the Americas. They will also present what are population-level policies available to reduce the harmful use of alcohol and what is the status of its implementation in the Region of the Americas.  In particular, they will focus on measures to prevent driving under the influence of alcohol. Finally, President of the Fundación Thiago de Moraes Gonzaga of Brazil discuss efforts advocacy from the points of view of NGOs, in order to reduce injuries to transit through the promotion of stronger policies in Brazil
