Seminar On Substance Use Organized by Mian Afzal Trust Hospital (MATH) Gujranwala Pakistan

A seminar on substance use was organized by Mian Afzal Trust Hospital, Gujranwala Pakistan in connection with the international day against drug abuse. The seminar was presided over by Mr. Sana Ullah Rathore, Director ISSUP Pakistan Chapter and Chairman Mian Afzal Trust Hospital, Gujranwala. Mr. Bashir Ahmad Naz, President ISSUP Pakistan Chapter and Mr. Saqib Bhatti, AETO, Excise and Narcotics Control Department Gujranwala graced the occasion as chief guests. The ceremony started with recitation of Holy Quran. Later Mr. Muhammad Javed welcomed the guests and participants of the seminar. Mr. Rana Maqsood Ahmad said that Mian Afzal Trust Hospital regularly conducts awareness activities for the community especially on the international day against drug abuse. Mr. Saqib Bhatti appreciated the work of MATH for drug prevention treatment & rehabilitation. He also mentioned that the Government of Punjab had established a Department for Narcotics Control.  Mr. Bashir Ahmad Naz, President ISSUP Pakistan Chapter, said we are working for drug prevention, treatment & rehabilitation in Pakistan. ISSUP Pakistan is holding different activities in Pakistan. He also congratulated MATH for holding such a wonderful seminar in connection with the international day against drug abuse. Mr. Sana Ullah Rathore, Chairman MATH/Director, ISSUP Pakistan said while addressing the seminar that there were 6.7 million substance users in Pakistan as per survey of UNODC and Ministry of Narcotics Control Government of Pakistan. There is a number of causes for substance use. He would like to request the parents for close watch on their children to save them from substance abuse. He also asked the participants to become members of ISSUP. He also thanked all the guest on behalf of MATH. Representatives of different departments participated in the event such as Punjab Police, Rescue 1122, Patrolling Police, Excise Department, Journalist, families and others.
