Recovery is possible. A Freedom Recovery Symposium, 2026 was successfully held at Freedom Rehab Gujranwala, in collaboration with Freedom Drug Treatment & Rehab and Mian Afzal Trust Hospital, Gujranwala, Pakistan. The event aimed to celebrate recovery and encourage individuals on their journey toward a healthy and purposeful life.
Col. Faisal Mahmood, Divisional Director Gujranwala, Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) Punjab, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A large number of recovering individuals and their families participated in the symposium, reflecting strong community engagement and support.
Col. Faisal Mahmood appreciated the organizers for arranging such a meaningful and inspiring event. He acknowledged the outstanding work being done by Freedom Rehab and Mian Afzal Trust Hospital in providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to substance users. He emphasized that after rehabilitation, recovering individuals are able to enjoy healthier and more productive lives.
Mr. Sana Ullah Rathore, Chairman, Mian Afzal Trust Hospital, Gujranwala/Global DDR Trainer (UNODC & Colombo Plan), was highlighted that both centers offer comprehensive services for substance users. He stated that recovery is self-directed and cannot be achieved without a clear purpose in life. He emphasized that recovery is not only physical, but also mental and emotional, and stressed the importance of strong support networks in sustaining recovery. He also thanked the Chief Guest and speakers for their valuable time and support.
Mr. Rana Maqsood Ahmad formally welcomed the guests to the Freedom Recovery Symposium 2026. He shared that both centers have successfully rehabilitated thousands of substance users. He also highlighted that Mian Afzal Trust Hospital, Gujranwala, is proudly celebrating 25 years of service in the field of healthcare and rehabilitation.
The event featured keynote speakers including Arshad Javed Mughal and Sufi Muhammad Javed, Directors of Mian Afzal Trust Hospital (MATH) and Freedom Rehab. They stated that the purpose of the symposium was to celebrate recovery, motivate recovering individuals, and recognize them as role models for others.
Other distinguished speakers included Dr. Munaza Niazi, Consultant Psychiatrist, who discussed medical and mental health aspects of recovery; Ms. Maham Butt, Psychologist who highlighted the psychological dimensions of recovery; Ms. Minahal, Psychologist; Agha Sohail; Mr. Abbas; Mr. Shabir, Inspector CNF; and other esteemed professionals addressed the symposium.
Following the speeches, a recovery countdown ceremony was held, and souvenirs were presented to recovering individuals in recognition of their achievements. The event concluded with refreshments served to all participants.
