Job Description - ICUDDR Program Specialist

Overview

The International Consortium of Universities for Drug Demand Reduction (ICUDDR) supports the rapid improvement in competencies and skills among current and future generations of addiction professionals. ICUDDR facilitates networking among universities to promote high-quality education and training in the field of addiction prevention, treatment, and public health. It also pursues applied addictions research, outreach, and advocacy.

Job Duties

Programmatic and Member Support: Support regions, programs, and members.

The incumbent will support regions by providing support to 1-2 regions including scheduling meetings, providing technical assistance, documenting attendance, and supporting the development of regional workplans. Additionally, this position will support membership by providing approvals for new members who fit all membership criteria; Refer membership applications that do not fit all criteria to the Executive Director or Associate Director; Support the maintenance of membership list; Notify regional coordinators of new members in their region; Add new members to Mailchimp; Assist in member recruitment; Assist with curricular access for members. Support marketing by providing content to the marketing team for the promotion of events and for the newsletter. Finally, support the ICUDDR annual global conference by collecting and managing traveler data including plane tickets and hotel arrangements; Attend meetings.

Technical Analysis of Literature, Reports, and Research: Provide support for the analysis of data and report writing related to findings of research and other program information to be used for reports of record, proposals, publications, and for presentations at national and international meetings on addiction education. Assist with documentation of educational providers and consultants; Add resources and events to the ICUDDR database.

Training and Presentations: Support training sessions for staff and collaborators. Schedule events in Webex, zoom, or other platforms; Arrange registration or events; Ensure technical checks with presenters; Provide technical support during webinars; Record webinars; Upload recordings to YouTube.

Additional duties as assigned: Occasionally, provide support for partner webinars; Support collaborative events with ISSUP or other ICUDDR partners, such as webinars and Partner Calls; Cross-train on duties of Coordinator of Educational Programs.

Qualifications required for effective performance.

a. Education

A bachelor’s degree in public health, social services, or related field is required. A master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Public health, Health policy, Health Management, Epidemiology, Behavioral Sciences, and Public administration is preferred. A certificate in Project Management is an asset.

b. Prior Work Experience

Minimum of at least one year of experience working with projects and programs related to Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery. Previous work with governmental and/or non-governmental institutions or colleges or universities in public health programming and delivery of services is an asset.

c. Knowledge:

Required: The incumbent has social science or public health skills that can be used in program implementation. A basic understanding of the principles of public health programs and practice, including evidence-based substance use disorders best practices and procedures. (Harm Reduction, Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery).

d. Skills and Abilities

Ability to work creatively and constructively with college and university and other educational or health officials to support the development of programs and activities suitable to local conditions, effectively responding to challenges and barriers as they arise. Demonstrated grasp of skills and methods of administrative and programmatic support.

A working knowledge of Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office Products, the ability to support the management of projects, events, and/or other deliverables. English language proficiency is required; The ability to communicate in United Nations official languages in addition to English is an asset: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish.

Possess sensitivity and maturity to deal appropriately with Addiction issues. A demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively with persons at all levels of the education and public health system. Able to prepare oral and written reports for international scientific audiences including informational research and review of published studies. Basic data analysis skills required.
