Guru Shiksha – Teacher Training Programme Dates: 21st, 22nd, and 23rd August 2025 Venue: Galle Wakwella Training Center

Guru Shiksha is a transformative three-day teacher training programme designed to empower educators as mentors, guides, and protectors of youth well-being. Held at the serene Galle Wakwella Training Center, this initiative brings together committed teachers to explore innovative, culturally grounded approaches to education. The programme focuses on: Adolescent Psychology & Emotional Development Understanding cognitive traits like egocentric thinking, imaginary audience, and risk perception to better support students' growth. Creative Pedagogy Designing bilingual, visually engaging teaching aids using poetry, music, and storytelling to make learning emotionally resonant and memorable.

Substance Abuse Prevention Education Equipping teachers with tools and strategies to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and foster resilience among youth facing risks related to substance use. Empathy & Inclusive Classrooms Building emotionally safe learning environments that nurture self-awareness, compassion, and cultural pride. Through interactive workshops, collaborative resource creation, and reflective dialogue, Guru Shiksha celebrates the teacher’s role not just as an instructor—but as a life shaper and change-maker.

Guru Shiksha is a dynamic three-day training programme designed to empower educators as frontline School Counsellors for youth well-being. This initiative brings together teachers from across the Southern Province to explore innovative, culturally grounded approaches to teaching and prevention.

Guru Shiksha Training Panel Empowering Educators with Global Expertise in Youth Well-being & Substance Abuse Prevention This distinguished panel brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts, including internationally certified professionals in addiction treatment, prevention, and recovery support. Their collective wisdom ensures that educators receive world-class guidance tailored to the Sri Lankan context.
