Home minister inaugurates specialized substance use and mental disorders hospital
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, MP (on Saturday 8 July) inaugurated the Ahsania Hena Ahmed Monojotno Kendra aiming to provide international standard specialized treatment services for mental disorders and substance use disorders patients at Alampur village of Hansara Union of Srinagar Upazila of Munshiganj district. The Center established by Dhaka Ahsania Mission will provide integrated treatment for psychiatric disorders, including mental disorders and substance use disorders following multidisciplinary model.
The five-storied center has 50 beds, an open environment, cabins, deluxe beds, psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, assessment facilities, individual and group counseling, meditation, case management, a library, a gym for exercise, religious practices, ambulance services, family programs, and after care facilities. An interdisciplinary team, including social workers, psychotherapist, psychologist, counselors, and case managers, medical officers will work together for patients.
Apart from this, facilities of x-ray, modern diagnostics, ultra-sonogram, modern quality operation theatre and emergency medical services are available at the adjacent Hena Ahmed Hospital also managed by Dhaka Ahsania Mission.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Kazi Rafiqul Alam and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, MP was present as the chief guest. Director General of Department of Narcotics Control Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Divisional Commissioner, Dhaka, Md. Sabirul Islam, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Munshiganj, Kazi Nahid Rasul and Superintendent of Police, Munshiganj, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Al-Mamun, BPM, PPM were present as special guests.
In the inauguration ceremony, Iqbal Masud, Director of Health and WASH Sector, Dhaka Ahsania Mission presented the welcome speech, besides, the Resident Psychiatrist of the Central Drug Treatment Center of the Department of Narcotics Control Dr. Rahanul Islam, Chairman of Hasara Union Parishad, Md. Sulaiman Khan, Chaiman of Srinagar Upazila, Md. Mishaur Rahman Mamun, Yana Zaman of Ahsania Mission Female Drug Treatment Center and guardian Rebecca Zaman also spoke at the program.
At the beginning of the inauguration, the recoveries of the Ahsania Mission Female Drug Treatment Center performed a welcome song and at the end, the guests were provided with memento.
After the end of the ceremony, the chief guest along with the other guests visited various units and observed activities of the Ahsania Hena Ahmed Monojotno Kendra and talked to the patients. It should be noted that the health sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been implementing various drug prevention program since 1990. Currently, it is providing treatment for substance use and mental disorders treatment at four treatment centers which include an exclusive female center and has won many national awards in this regard.
