Drug Use In Nigeria

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Centre for Research and Information on Substance Abuse (CRISA) have conducted the National Survey on Drug Use and Health in Nigeria. The aim of the project is to understand drug production, trafficking and use in Nigeria and improve access to evidence based drug prevention, treatment and recovery services.

The report is split in to three components:

  • The National Household Survey on Drug Use and Health 
  • The National Survey on Problem Drug Use 
  • Key Informant Survey 

The publication includes information on patterns of drug use in Nigeria,the socio-demographic characteristics of drug users, their living conditions and other information such as gender, age, marital status, education and employment status. There is also information regarding the consequence of drug use in Nigeria and the policies currently in place to tackle the issues within the country.
