Public Health Advisor - SAMHSA

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  • Coordinating work across Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) on behavioral health regulations, financing, and parity.
  • Performing work that involves using knowledge of behavioral health regulations and financing, and parity and knowledge of related subject matters in the planning, organizing, promoting, and coordinating efforts across SAMHSA to develop new and/or more effective approaches to the delivery of substance use and mental health screening, assessment, treatment and recovery services.
  • Serving as a liaison between program staff and National Mental Health and Substance Use Policy Laboratory (NMHSUPL) leadership and serving as a point of contact for intra-agency, federal interagency and external communication on a variety of behavorial health issues.
  • Developing public-facing resources such as memos, white papers, issue briefs, journal articles, fact sheets and toolkits, as well as briefings and talking points for leadership.
  • Participating in interagency task forces and workgroups and facilitating meetings with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Preparing draft policy responses and related guidance resulting from inquiries from Congressional offices, private sector representatives, grantees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintaining an awareness of policy and guidance provided by senior leadership and offers recommendations about respective policies, procedures, programs, and activities as required.
