Becky Vaughn has been working in the addictions field for over 35 years. Starting at St. Jude’s Recovery Center in Atlanta, GA, her work turned to public policy and association leadership in 1992 when she established the first Provider Association in GA. As CEO of The Georgia Council on Substance Abuse, she focused on legislative advocacy and community catalyst on issues around prevention, treatment, recovery, homelessness, and drug courts including passage of many bills and securing budget resources. In 2008 she went to the State Associations of Addiction Services (SAAS) as their CEO. After their merger with the National Council for Behavioral Health, Becky served as the newly created VP for Addictions building the addiction presence and services at the Council until 2016. She is currently supporting the Colombo Plan in Sri Lanka as the Director of the Global Centre for Credentialing and Certification (GCCC), formerly ICCE, promoting a professionalized workforce to reduce the demand for alcohol and other drugs. Becky has served on numerous state and US federal committees/panels and speaks on the topic in a variety of settings. Becky received her degrees from the University of Georgia and Georgia State University. As a former teacher and mother of four, she is passionate about preventing and finding solutions to the far-reaching problems caused by untreated addiction.
