The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Forum on Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders is hosting a virtual workshop to explore the current scope of activities, opportunities, benefits and risks of leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms to help inform upstream suicide prevention efforts at the individual and population level. 

Webinar 3 on June 30, 2022 from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM ET, will focus on risks, gaps, barriers, and opportunities for action and improvement of AI/ML algorithms used to assess suicide risk. Sessions will:

  • Explore potential risks, unintended consequences, barriers, bias, and stigmas associated with leveraging AI/ML algorithms to identify individuals and populations at risk for suicide 
  • Examine data science techniques and their effectiveness to assess suicide risk 
  • Discuss opportunities for action
