Lions Quest Skills for Adolescence Programme in North Macedonia – Implementation results

Martin Loinig - 3 August 2020

Informed by the positive outcomes of the implementation of the “Lions Quest Skills for Adolescence” programme in Serbia in 2014/15, the programme was gradually expanded to Montenegro and North Macedonia in 2015.

In North Macedonia, the first implementation cycle ran from September 2015 to June 2016 and was delivered in the cities of Ohrid, Struga, Veles, Kavadarci and Tetovo. In partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia, UNODC and the Lions Clubs International Foundation targeted 10-14-year-old students through the programme. During the first implementation cycle, a total of 768 students from 47 different schools was reached, with 75 teachers and 2 trainers trained beforehand.

The second cycle of the programme implementation that commenced in late 2018 - and is running for 2 years - has since expanded its area of operation, following the encouraging results from the first cycle. 10 additional elementary schools were included, with 20 teachers trained to effectively deliver the programme in their respective schools.

Across both implementation cycles, “Lions Quest Skills for Adolescence” has reached more than 1,200 students across 57 schools with the help of 95 trained teachers in Skopje, Ohrid, Veles, Struga, Kavadarci, Tetovo, Bitola, and Kumanovo.
