Peer-To-Peer Parent Support If Your Child Struggles With Addiction | The Partnership

Jose Luis Vazquez Martinez - 12 April 2019

There is nothing quite like speaking to someone else who has been in your situation. Our Parent Coaching program pairs those seeking additional guidance and support with a trained parent volunteer who has also traveled the path of dealing with a child’s substance use. Parent Coaches are there to listen, offer ideas and reaffirm that you are not alone in this struggle.

Are you interested in talking with a Parent Coach about your son’s or daughter’s struggles with substances? Start by contacting our Helpline: http://drugfree.org/helpline

Our volunteer Parent Coaches are trained in collaboration with our partners at the Center for Motivation and Change Foundation for Change (CMCFFC) using CMCFFC’s Invitation to Change Approach, a unique mix of Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. These techniques are evidence-based approaches shown to set the stage for positive outcomes. Parent Coaches are there to listen, offer ideas and reaffirm to parents that they aren’t alone in this struggle.
