The Nicotine Research Group (NRG) is collaborating on a UK Prevention Research Partnership (UKPRP) consortium project led by the University of Edinburgh and including colleagues across ten universities, five civil society organisations, commercial partners and the leading public health agencies in Scotland, England and Wales. The consortium aims to conduct research to prevent and address harm to health from unhealthy commodities (tobacco, alcohol, specific foods).
The NRG is leading a novel workstream aiming to influence public health policies to reduce (mental) health inequalities and harm associated with tobacco and to some extent alcohol. This is an exciting cross-disciplinary research project with potential for impact across the mental health, tobacco and alcohol fields as well as for public policy, practice, public engagement and education.
This post is intended to support members of the NRG involved in this project, including the workstream Lead and three collaborators (comprising two senior lecturers and one senior-post doctoral researcher). The post holder’s responsibilities will include qualitative and quantitative research, including literature reviews, analysis of national survey data, conducting of focus groups and interviews, qualitative data analysis, write up and dissemination of findings, under the supervision of the staff involved.
