The Brain Under Construction – A Window into the Developing Brain

The Brain Under Construction – A Window into the Developing Brain is a new debriefing paper by Mentor-Adepis. It forms part of a mini-series on the ‘Brain Under Construction’, which is geared towards helping professionals to better-understand the young people that they support. A Window into the Developing Brain examines the function and structuring of the brain, in particularly the uniqueness of the adolescent brain. Indeed, research has shown that the adolescent brain operates in a different way to that of adults. Specifically, it suggests that during adolescence, the brain systems involved in planning, social understanding, risk-taking and decision-making are still under development. Such research may have important implications for education, rehabilitation and intervention.
