The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Reported Violence Against Women and Girls

Since the global outbreak of COVID-19, and the introduction of restrictions and lockdowns in countries around the world, evidence suggests that there has been a dramatic increas in reports of violence against women and girls.

The aim of this report is to improve our understanding of the link between COVID-19 and the rise in violence against women and girls.

The researchers examine data that has been collected from reports made to the authorities, and on calls made to helplines supporting victims of crime and women experiencing gender-based violence.

It is hoped that these findings can inform responses at an national and international level.
