According to the 2022 World Drug Report, the non-medical use of opioids like fentanyl poses substantial risks to global health. Opioids remain the most lethal group of psychoactive substances, accounting for two-thirds of deaths related directly to drugs, primarily overdoses. Additionally, fentanyl and its analogs were present in 90% of defined daily doses of synthetic opioids seized in 2020.
In mental health care, incorporating into daily practice the vision of inclusion, empowerment and non-stigmatization towards people who are treated due to their mental health conditions enhances their recovery and development as citizens in their lives.
