SANCA National is planning our second Addiction 2023 Online Conference from the 28-29 June 2023 in commemoration of the World Drug Day on the 26th of June 2023.

The theme for this year is 'Be the Shield- Protecting what we value most’. It is a metaphor for every South Africans’ shielding (protecting) their children, families, friends, community, workplaces, the country and themselves from substance use/misuse and substance use disorders. Although the programme will add value to broader insights, you will note the emphasis on our youth.

It is with this in mind that South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA) is hosting this Conference in partnership with International Society of Substance Use Disorder Professionals (ISSUP Global); ISSUP South African Chapter; Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA); African Youth Development Fund (AYDF) and Get Informed Youth organisation.

Join us now and become the SHIELD, become part of the solution. Registration is partially sponsored by SANCA to make it affordable.

If you are a healthcare professional, a social worker, a psychologist, an educator, a community worker, a youth care worker, a pastor, a youth leader, a parent, a concerned community member, this conference is for you.  Learn about the latest effective substance use/misuse prevention- and substance use disorder treatment strategies from across the globe and nationally. Let’s find out what works for this generation and how we can effectively involve them.

The ADDICTION 2023 Conference is our next key opportunity to bring together different perspectives and solutions. Through the inaugural ADDICTION 2021 Conference, we have successfully ignited the movement for change, now it is time to advance this movement by taking joint ownership and being accountable as responsible people of this beautiful country.
