ISSUP Bahamas Workshop on The Science of Substance Use Disorder

ISSUP Bahamas held a one-day workshop on 25 August 2023 at the Police Training College in Freeport, Grand Bahama.  The workshop aimed to facilitate a collaboration platform for diverse stakeholders to explore the multi-dimensional aspects of substance use challenges and develop effective strategies to address them.

The event commenced with an opening address by Senator Hon Kirkland Russell, Deputy Director of Urban Renewal for the Northern Bahamas.

ISSUP Bahamas Official Launch

The ISSUP Bahamas National Chapter was formally launched on 2 February 2023 at the University of the Bahamas.  The theme for the launch was 'the dawn of a new era in addiction prevention, treatment and recovery'.

This in-person and online event was attended by a variety of organisations in the Bahamas, plus international attendance from CICAD and ISSUP Global.

A visit to the host organisation, Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre also took place as well as meetings with key stakeholders.

The Executive Committee and Members of ISSUP Bahamas National Chapter, in conjunction with its host organization, Sandilands Rehabilitation Center, are pleased to announce the date of their official launch, which will take place on 2 February 2023 at the University of the Bahamas. It's The Dawning of a New Era in Addiction Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery.

The National LEAD Institute Workforce Development Training for Ministry of Education

The Universal Prevention Curriculum and the Universal Treatment Curriculum provide training programs for those wishing to develop their professional knowledge, skills, and competence in addressing substance use prevention and delivering treatment services to individuals and their families.
